Detailed Eligibility Criteria:
- Nationality: Must be an Indian Citizen.
- Educational Qualification:
- Must possess a medical qualification included in the National Medical Council Act, 2019.
- Must have passed the final MBBS (Part I & II) examination in not more than two attempts.
- Must have permanent registration from any State Medical Council, National Medical Commission (NMC), or Medical Council of India (MCI).
- Candidates holding a postgraduate degree (MD/MS/DNB) recognized by State Medical Councils/NBE/NMC are also eligible to apply and are exempt from appearing in NEET PG again; their previous scores will be considered.
- Internship: Candidates must have completed their mandatory internship on or before March 31, 2025.
- NEET PG: Must have appeared in the NEET PG examination in either 2023 or 2024. However, civilian doctors holding a postgraduate degree are exempt from appearing in NEET PG again.
- Age Limit (as on December 31, 2025):
- For MBBS degree holders: Must not have attained the age of 30 years (i.e., born on or after January 02, 1996).
- For PG degree holders: Must not have attained the age of 35 years (i.e., born on or after January 02, 1991).
Selection Procedure:
The selection process will consist of the following stages:
- Shortlisting for Interview: Candidates will be shortlisted for an interview based on their NEET PG scores/percentile. The NEET PG percentile will be converted into a score out of 200 for the purpose of shortlisting. Separate merit lists will be prepared for male and female candidates. Approximately eight times the number of vacancies will be called for the interview.
- Interview (Viva-voce): Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview conducted by a Board of Officers at Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi Cantt, starting from June 19, 2025, onwards. The interview will assess the candidate’s suitability and merit for commission in the AFMS and carries a maximum of 50 marks. Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks (25 marks) to qualify for the interview. First-time interview candidates will be reimbursed travel fare (3rd AC rail or Non-AC bus).
- Medical Examination: Candidates who clear the interview will undergo a medical examination as per the prescribed medical standards. Candidates declared unfit by the Special Medical Board (SMB) may have the option for an Appeal Medical Board (AMB) or Review Medical Board (RMB).
- Final Merit List: The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined total of the candidate’s NEET PG score (out of 200) and the marks obtained in the interview (out of 50). Candidates who are found medically fit will be offered joining letters based on their merit and the number of vacancies available.

The online application process involves the following steps:
- New Registration: Click on the “NEW REGISTRATION” link and provide your basic details (Name, Father’s Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Email ID, Mobile Number) to register. Ensure all details are entered correctly as they cannot be changed after submission. You will receive an OTP for verification.
- Fill Application Form: Log in with your credentials and complete the online application form with all necessary personal, academic, and medical qualification details.
- Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of the required documents, including:
- Passport size photograph
- Class 10th certificate (for proof of Date of Birth)
- Aadhar Card (as proof of identity and address)
- NEET PG scorecard (2023 or 2024)
- MBBS degree certificate (and PG degree certificate, if applicable)
- Internship completion certificate (must be completed by March 31, 2025)
- Medical Registration Certificate (from State Medical Council/NMC/MCI)
- Attempt Certificate (for MBBS examinations)
- NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the present employer, if applicable
- NCC Certificate (if any)
- Foreign Medical Graduate specific certificates (NBE certificate, Passport, etc., if applicable)

- Pay Application Fee: Pay the non-refundable application fee of ₹200/- online through the integrated payment gateway using Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking. Keep the payment receipt for future reference.
- Final Submission: After reviewing all the details, click on the “Final Submit” button. Download and take a printout of the confirmation page for your records.
Pay Scale and Benefits:
Upon commissioning, Medical Officers in the AFMS are granted the rank of Captain (or equivalent rank in the Navy/Air Force) in Level 10B of the Defence Pay Matrix. The emoluments include:
- Basic Pay: ₹61,300 per month
- Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500 per month
- Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA): As per prevalent rates
- House Rent Allowance (HRA): Based on the classification of the city of posting (X, Y, or Z)
- Transport Allowance: ₹3,600 to ₹7,200 per month, depending on the city of posting
- Dress Allowance: ₹20,000 per year
- Dearness Allowance (DA): As per prevailing government rates
